Navagrahas

In Jyotisha, the Navagrahas are the nine celestial influences that provide subtle influence on human life and destiny. These include the Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, and the lunar nodes, Rahu and Ketu. Revered in Hindu tradition, their energies are integral to astrological readings and spiritual practices.

Graha (ग्रह) means “seizing, laying hold of, or holding,” signifying the celestial bodies’ ability to influence or “grasp” human life and destiny. This concept reflects how the Navagrahas are not just astronomical entities but cosmic forces that shape karma, emotions, and spiritual evolution. Their influence is deeply woven into Jyotisha, guiding individuals through cycles of growth, challenge, and transformation.

Each graha represents distinct cosmic forces that shape various aspects of existence—personality, karma, and spiritual evolution. The Sun (Surya) governs vitality and authority, while the Moon (Chandra) influences emotions and the mind. Mars (Mangala) embodies courage and action, Mercury (Budha) rules intellect and communication, and Jupiter (Guru) bestows wisdom and expansion. Venus (Shukra) governs love and creativity, while Saturn (Shani) teaches discipline and endurance. Rahu and Ketu, the shadow planets, signify karmic lessons and transformation, guiding souls through life’s unseen currents.
